Above All Else

I’m working on developing a retreat theme called “Above All Else.” It’s focused on Proverbs 4:23, “Above all else guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life.”

Since thinking of the theme a few months back, everywhere I’ve turned, I’ve run into related themes.  I’ve been encouraged to think about the difference between how and why God guards His heart and why and how I guard my heart.  God is focused on guarding His heart out of His love for people and against anything that would diminish that love.  On the other hand, I’m quick to guard my heart from loving people so as not to get hurt, rejected, etc.

While working on the theme this morning, God granted me much needed insight.  I’m looking at three session topics that focus on the relationship between the guarded heart, the renewed mind, and the straight path.

I’d appreciate your prayers as I continue the work.
