The focus of this weekend’s retreat is Proverbs 4:23 – Above all else, guard your heart for out of it flows the issues of life.
Above all else is a call…
- to prioritize which is about guarding our heart
- to protect which is about renewing our mind
- to persist with is about having a focused approach
The apostle Paul sums up the focus of Above All Else quite well: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).
Guarding our heart is about renewing our mind so that we can take the focused approach to life in Christ because of the joy set before us.
“…fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2).
